About

Hi there. I’m a photographer who doesn’t shoot as much as I should anymore, but I work with photographers every day on SportsShooter.com, and through web hosting company S2F Online, Inc. Currently living in San Francisco, I was born in New York, went to college at RIT and Ohio University, and later worked at a variety of newspapers as a general assignment staff photographer. Today, everything I do has some kind of Internet component to it, and I rarely see the sun. The latest project is PhotoShelter.

Digital imaging workflow and archiving presentation, Ventura, CA

The Brooks NPPA Student Chapter is conducting a special presentation dealing with digital imaging workflow and archiving. This event is open to students and members of the general public who are looking to improve their digital imaging workflow.

A few of the specific topics to be addressed are critical to photojournalists – where speed with accuracy is crucial – include batch captioning IPTC data, quick reviews of shoots for the best photographs to transmit, how to transmit files in various formats, explanation of the merits of various formats including RAW, how to organize, store and retrieve images, and how to safely backup images both locally and online.

Dennis Walker, Founder and President of Camera Bits, the makers of Photo Mechanic, and Grover Sanschagrin, PhotoShelter’s VP of Marketing and Sales will be conducting presentations and answering questions at the event.

The meeting will be held Friday, June 9th, 2006 at Brooks’ Ventura, Calif., campus – 5301 N Ventura Ave, Ventura, 93001 – in the Screening Room from 8 p.m. to around 10:45 p.m. Grover and Dennis will be giving a joint presentation the merits of Photo Mechanic/PhotoShelter, and the ways in which the two systems work together.
